ClassDescription
0Unknown - Juveniles are present but the observer cannot ascertain the class.
1Downy, newly hatched, patterns bright & distinct. Neck & tail not obvious. Body rounded.
2Down colour fading and patterns become progressively less distinct. Tail spots obvious. No feathers visible. Neck and tail obvious, body shape long and oval.
3First feathers on flank and/or shoulders. Tail and secondary wing feathers follow. Face remains downy.
4Face starts to lose down cover, most notably at base of bill. Remaining down on head and face gradually disappears. Predominantly feathered but not capable of flight.
5Young capable of flight but still with parents and brood mates.
